Pittosporum crassicaule

Category: Native shrubs

Pittosporum. Very slow-growing, hardy Pittosporum which has a rigid, divaricating habit and thick stem. The juvenile form has small leaves which increase in size in the mature plant. Grows naturally in sub-alpine scrub and down to sea-level in the montane forest. Found naturally in Nelson and the West Coast of the South island. Single purple flowers in spring. Avoid dry sites. Suitable for growing in pots.

Soil dampness: Damp soil, Well-drained soil

Sunlight: Partial shade, Open sunlight

Site conditions: Exposed sites, Frost-hardy
